Memento Mori

Below are progress images showing WIP of Memento Mori, working through several layers, to finally arrive at the grisaille layer. Starting with a wash on the raw canvas and a grid system to draw out my first layer of details. Then working up with umber washes to key in the shadow details and some lighter areas. Next working in more details on the grisaille, or ghost layers. Canvas size 28″ x 48″.
