I am a British-based Fine Artist and Graphic Art Director working in the film industry. I help to bring a little bit of magic to film sets through paintings and graphical character props.
My role as an artist in film involves creating detailed props, backdrops, and set pieces, Having created hand-painted fans for magical sets, many backdrops for fantasy sets, illustrations for prophecy books and heraldic crests for characters. Working closely with Designers, Art Directors and Graphic Designers to specific briefs and tight timescales within the Art Department has been a dream.
As a Graphic Art Director with 19 years experience I create wonderful graphical props and dressing from all eras, skilled in the art of forgery. My work has taken me from the 16th Century through the 1920s and 1930s up to present day, even visiting heaven and hell in a magical universe along the way.
As a Fine Artist my collection explores themes of “memento mori” and dark fairytales, using traditional techniques such as painting on gesso panels. Working with traditional 16th-century rabbit skin gesso, giving the surface of porcelain to lay the oil paint onto. Then working in veil-like layers building up the transitions of paint.
